The Cultural Administration's activities enrich people's lives through libraries, meeting places for young people, art, and other cultural activities.

Halmstad Municipality has been named Culture Municipality of the Year 2023 for a long-term cultural policy that contributes to quality of life, community, health, welfare, and democracy for all residents and visitors.

About 130 people work in the Cultural Administration, divided into three departments: culture and art, the libraries in Halmstad, and the administrative staff.

The Cultural Administration is responsible for cultural services throughout Halmstad Municipality and works with participation as a central tool. Here you will find award-winning libraries, and at our meeting places, we start from the premise that all young people should be given the opportunity for a meaningful leisure time. We have a museum of national renown and an extensive collection of public art in the urban space. We run Halmstad's new cultural house and are responsible for support forms for the cultural life as well as the municipality's citizen service.

The libraries in Halmstad are meeting places for everyone and consist of several different libraries located in various places around Halmstad, as well as citizen service in Andersberg and Vallås. The libraries offer a wide range of media in various forms, experiences for young and old, and great opportunities to learn new things.

We are now looking for a driven and versatile systems librarian for the Media and IT unit!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The work mainly consists of, together with colleagues, being responsible for system administration at the libraries and includes a wide range of other tasks at the library.

The job responsibilities include, among other things:

  • System administration, which involves maintaining the library catalog, databases, e-services, and web
  • Selection and purchase of media
  • Cataloging and classification of materials
  • Staffing the library's information desks and customer service
  • Working with digital services and platforms
  • Participating in development projects within the library operations

The position is located at the city library, but work may occur at other libraries in the municipality. Evening and weekend work is included.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in library and information science or equivalent education that the employer assesses as equivalent, as well as several years of experience working in a library, preferably with a focus on system administration
  • Good knowledge of cataloging and classification
  • Experience working with selection and purchase of media
  • A positive, pedagogical, and solution-oriented approach, enjoys meeting people, and has a good sense of service and an understanding of people's different circumstances.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Interest in digital services and development
  • Driver's license (B)
